Dreaming of Berlin from my sickbed!

Hello, I hope you all had a lovely Easter break! I spent my Easter weekend at the Blues & Roots festival where I got my groove on to Earth, Wind & Fire, Trombone Shorty and Maceo Parker (who totally blew my mind). We stayed in Kingscliff and I fell in love with the area. The hotel was so beautiful and relaxing and clean and quiet and a nice break in between days at the festival! It was a nice place to wash off grass, smoke, weed, spilt rum & cokes, dust, dirt, tired feet and portaloo memories - am I getting too old for festivals? Before we went home I went for a lovely frolic along the beach where I saw two dogs sitting under their own umbrellas, a sausage dog running along the beach, a surfing camera crew and just general blue sky & sunshine. I went for a great swim and didn't want to leave. As we left I dreamt of owning a home in Kingscliff. I LOVE the sea.
Lightening
Alas just as I am refreshed and ready to conquer the world I am STRUCK DOWN!! By the Gastro/food poisoning/tummy bug - road block. WHHYYYy did this happen to me!? This is a completely new way to detox. It's called the 'throw up every thing you've ever eaten and then don't eat anything again for a few days diet'. An intervention was held about my sick complaining facebook statuses - however Twitter & Blogger were not mentioned in the intervention.
Being sick AGAIN for like the 5th time in 5months SUCKS. New sick every month. I'm just a little under the weather lately and I can't shake this rain cloud!!

My good friend Alex Grigg was able to go to the event in Berlin and I'm looking forward to hearing all about it. He took this photo at Pictoplasma! Lucky duck! :

Sweethearts

I had a lot of trouble writing this Valentine's/Love themed post. I had mixed feelings of romantic dreaminess with squishy, sickly sweet cringeyness... I hope it is not too overbearing for you! It has been written with love and with good intentions...

Amelie's Happy Ending:

This is for you Shane - I'm crazy in love with you! Emphasis on the CRAZY ! xoxo

Check out this Paris Studio Apartment! It is actually cheaper (for two people) than the amount I payed in a youth hostel years ago. I could stay in my Paris studio apartment for a month and live a dreamy life, sketching, drinking and soaking in the scenery!

I have been busy in the kitchen!

So I have been busily drawing what I cook lately...

And I discovered - there are some great illustrators out there drawing what they cook too!
I am loving the illustrations of Dawn Tan at the moment! I have taken some inspiration from her style in my latest food drawings. I think I need to think about composition a little more though! I have a long way to go until I'm at this standard though!!!

Check out this beautiful illustration by Dawn Tan below:

New Recipes

New Recipes: Pumpkin, Leek and Bacon Pasta
and
Blondies with white chocolate, pecans and cranberries

Brown Bacon, Leek and garlic. Add microwaved pumpkin pieces, chicken stock, water, thyme and cinnamon. Cook until liquid reduces. Stir together with pasta!

Melt butter and mix with brown sugar until dissolved. Whisk in 1 egg and vanilla essence. Mix in flour. Add chopped white chocolate, pecans and cranberries. (Or any choice of chocolate and nuts or fruit). Bake for 20-30min 180degrees. (Best when warm and chocolate is still gooey).

Dreamy rainy night

I'm dreaming of grassy hills in my canoe pod again...

I often like to imagine that I am in a warm safe cocoon/ seed pod /canoe boat. I am all tucked in, with my arms by my side, warm and snuggly in my pod boat. My pod boat is rolling, sliding and gliding over big grassy hills. Its windy and the long grass is making that rustling sound. My pod boat glides down the hills and dips and then rises over the next hill and so on...
It's a really nice relaxing thought... I think about it fairly often.

Well anyway the rain is making me very drowsy while I am trying to write my assignments/research and make tutorials. I would like to sink into a big soft squishy doona.
Here is a little drawing I did a while ago based on my grassy hills...
I just dont think it illustrates it my daydream properly and I will have to make a new one soon! I more imagine laying down in more of a pod and not paddling...
